Roly Poly

Do you remember when you were younger and you thought that roly polies were the greatest thing? I used to go out searching for them and play with them.
Well, they just don't seem as cute and cuddly now as they did then. This afternoon, my roommate was going to vaccume so I was moving some things out of the way and there in the corner was a pile of dead roly polies. I have no idea how they got there or how long they were there! We were completely grossed out!! And pretty much jumped around the room squealing.
After that episode was over I vaccumed them up. Unfortunately the vaccume cleaner was a mess and our entire wing smelled like burning hair, which made me feel pretty sick to my stomach. I didn't think that my room was that dirty, but evidentally I didn't look very hard.
Anyway, thats my story and what a great adventure it was. YUCK!! I guess it could have been worse. :o)

Is it bad that I still like rolly polly's?

I wouldn't mind them as much if they would stay out of my room.

I am like you Jamie - I used to think they were great! That was when I lived at home and didn't have to clean - you are right - when you find them and have to clean them up, it is totally gross!

I remember lots of bugs that I used to be excited to see (ladybugs, roly poly, etc). Now I dread them and just watch my kids want to touch them. I did break down and hold a toad again though. The darn thing peed on me though and to boot, the girls still wouldn't hold it, they just let it jump out of their hands. Oh well!!

Grasshoppers keep jumping into my house! The cat likes to chase them, but I don't enjoy them so much! Hope your rolly-polly free now!

I find that calling them sow bugs makes it easier to hate them. I have trouble thinking ill of the rolly-pollie.

I suppose it could have been worse, if they say made a breeding gound in your room instead of a burial ground. I'm sure the other pollies are quite upset that you vaccumed thier dearly departed away.
